National Accredited Technical Education Diploma (NATED) programmes are delivered under the auspices of the Department of Higher Education and Training. The programmes consist of 18 months theoretical studies at colleges and 18 months relevant practical application in work places. Engineering studies range from N1-N6 while Business and Utility Studies range from N4-N6.

Human Resource Management has a variety of specialised areas that include staffing, labour relations, remuneration, administration, recruitment and selection and training and development. This programme prepares students for a career in Human Resources and it is curriculated to include the precondition that Human Resource Specialists must also have good business acumen. The curriculum develops competencies that are a balance between business and general Human Resource Management requirements.

In the Business Management field, this qualification enhances the student’s ability to apply business management principles in decision-making and identifying critical success factors for small business management and better performance in the business environment. This programme is a diversified major designed for students who need a broad background, whether for managing businesses of their own or for taking a position within a large business where they will receive more specialised training. Courses offered in the curriculum help students build skills in strategic management, sales management, organisational design, and entrepreneurship.

This qualification enables learners to manage the marketing function at for-profit and non-profit organisations effectively. It is designed to help students understand business activities that create customer value, such as identifying customer needs through market research, segmenting markets, targeting and positioning products and services, developing and managing new and existing products. This programme provides an opportunity for students to develop the analytical, planning, implementation, and process control skills necessary for rewarding careers in marketing management, marketing strategy, marketing research, and business development/sales.

This qualification is designed to encourage access to the accounting profession. It is offered to those candidates who would like to enter the world of finance as their career.

Once you complete this programme you will be able to apply accounting and numeracy skills to enter an accounting occupation directly and be able to deal with all procedures such as to understand accounting and management principles to have the acquired knowledge and skills of accounting systems generally used by business enterprises, also to have the knowledge and skills of all administrative accounting tasks.

The Public Management course addresses the skills, knowledge and experience needed in the Public/ Government departments across South Africa. The programme integrates academic knowledge and theory with practical experience obtained during the internship.

In the management discipline, this qualification enhances a student’s ability to apply management principles in decision-making and identifying critical success factors for small business management and better performance in the business environment. This programme’s design (N4 – N6) will also enable students to obtain a national n diploma on completion of the practical aspect.

Public Relations studies covers three main disciplines

  • Communications and media;
  • Public Relations theory and application;
  • Writing for mass communications.

This part qualification is aimed primarily at giving the learner technical, theoretical knowledge, practical knowledge and workplace knowledge and skills required in Public Relations.

The Tourism N4 – N6 course involves the study of tourism as a broad and dynamic economic sector. It encourages learners from diverse backgrounds to understand the industry and how it functions.

This Hospitality course provides the student with both theoretical and practical skills to operate as an assistant in the fields of food preparation, food service or accommodation in the various Hospitality establishments. This course integrates academic knowledge and theory with practical skills and values.
