The Finance Leadership Program is built on the critical knowledge that finance experts determined you need in order to advance your career (outlined in their 2019 CIMA Syllabus .). The program supports the development and demonstration of the highest levels of competency in finance, accounting, business and leadership skills that will help you advance your career and add value to your company. Your personal qualifications and educational background determine where you begin, the order in which you progress and your timeline for completing the program.
The FLP is now available to both Graduates and Non-Graduates with the introduction of Foundational Level.

The Finance Leadership Program Structure

The CGMA Finance Leadership Program is divided into three levels, each building on the previous one. If you’ve already got a relevant prior qualification or degree, you may be eligible to skip certain levels, enabling you to earn your CGMA designation faster than you might think.

Foundational Level

The Foundational Level is a condensed introduction to the concepts of business and finance. It will give you a solid foundation that enables you to get into the Operational Level and beyond.

Introduction to Management Accounting

Start at the Foundational Level if you do not have any post Grade 12 or Matric Qualification.
No Exam but competence assessments

Operational Level

The Operational level focuses on short-term decision-making. You’ll build your core knowledge of finance, accounting and reporting, studying topics like:

Budgeting
Regulatory Framework
Cost Accounting
Finance Technologies

Start at the Operational level if you hold a diploma or a bachelor’s degree or above in business.

Management Level

At the Management level , you’ll focus on translating long-term decisions into medium-term plans. You’ll build on what you’ve learned at the Operational level to include topics like:

Cost Management
Financial Statement Analysis
Leadership and Management
Business Models
Organizational Performance

Start at the Management level if you hold a bachelor’s degree or above in accounting or finance.

Strategic Level

At the Strategic level , , you’ll focus on long-term strategic decision making, learning about risk and finance strategy. Key topics include:

Financial Objectives
Risk oversight
Internal Controls
Strategy formulation and execution
Regulatory Compliance

If you’re a CPA, CA(SA) or SAIPA member, you have the option to skip right to the CGMA Strategic Level Case Study Exam.

How is FLP different from the normal CIMA route?
